EMBROIDERY TECHNIQUES



Take your embroidery skills to the next level with Roberta from BERNINA Canada in this fun, hands-on embroidery workshop. Whether you're just getting started with machine embroidery or looking to build your confidence, this class will give you the knowledge and techniques to achieve beautiful embroidery results every time.

During the class, you'll create a stylish faux suede packable backpack while learning essential embroidery techniques. Your project features applique-in-place and combination lettering, giving you the opportunity to explore creative design options while gaining valuable embroidery experience.

You'll also discover two exciting specialty techniques—3D Fringe Embroidery and Appliqué with Pearlescent Film. During class, you'll complete one of these decorative effects on your backpack and receive the design to try the second technique at home.

Class Kit

A complete project kit is included in the cost of the class and contains everything needed to make your faux suede packable backpack.

What to Bring

  • Your embroidery machine and embroidery module.
  • BERNINA owners are encouraged to bring their own machines.
  • Non-BERNINA embroidery machines are welcome! Please let us know the embroidery file format your machine uses (such as PES, JEF, VP3, EXP, etc.) when registering so we can provide the appropriate design files.
  • Basic sewing supplies

If you would like to use one of The Green Thimble's embroidery machines, please let us know when you register. We will have only a limited number of machines available, and reservations are required.

Instructor: Roberta
Instructor Bio: Roberta Wynnyk comes to us from BERNINA of Canada where she has worked since 2004. She has always loved creating at the machine and started by sewing clothing for her dolls and then herself. Her hobby lead her to the University of Alberta where she graduated with a BSc. in Clothing and Textiles. As life progressed, her sewing focused on home décor, children's wear and then teaching others what they could do. She is an accomplished seam- stress and loves using digitizing software and embroidery on her projects. She has ventured into quilting and has written a Ruler Work technique book. Her favorite thing is working on BERNINA’s top-of-the-line machines and equipment and sharing what she has learned.
