Sew Your Own Demeter Dungarees with Belladonna Patterns

In this workshop, students will sew their own pair of Demeter Dungarees using the Belladonna Patterns design. Guided by the pattern’s designer, participants will learn how to work with a PDF sewing pattern, fit a garment to their body, and construct a pair of dungarees step by step.

Skill Level:
Advanced Beginner

What you will learn:

In the first session, students will take accurate body measurements and determine their pattern size. The class will also cover how to adjust the pattern for height and proportions by lengthening or shortening pattern pieces. Students will learn how to print and assemble their PDF pattern at home, and how to transfer an embroidery design onto a pocket and practice a few basic hand-embroidery techniques for optional embellishment. Purchasing fabric and materials before the first class is not required, as quantities will be confirmed once students have been accurately measured and sized.

There will be a two-week break between the first and second sessions. During this time, students are expected to gather or purchase their materials, print and tape together their PDF pattern, and complete any pocket embroidery they wish to include. At the start of the second class, we will review and troubleshoot any issues with printing, assembling the pattern, or pattern adjustments.

In the second session, students will learn how to pin and cut their fabric and pattern pieces before beginning garment construction. From there, the class will work through the sewing process step by step.

The third and fourth sessions will focus on continuing construction and completing the garment. By the end of the workshop, students will have sewn their own pair of Demeter Dungarees while building confidence with PDF patterns, garment fitting, and sewing techniques.
