Indestructable Teddies



Create your very own Indestructible Teddy in this fun and nostalgic sewing class! Students will choose from our curated collection of vintage Fortrel fabrics—famous for their durability, easy care, and washability—to make a one-of-a-kind teddy bear that’s built to last a lifetime.

Fortrel fabric’s unique texture and vibrant retro prints give each bear its own charming, vintage look. Whether you’re making a keepsake gift or adding a new friend to your own collection, this project combines creativity, sustainability, and old-school sewing fun.

 

Skill Level: 

Advanced Beginner (basic machine sewing experience recommended, plus some projects under your belt. You will need to confidently know how to use a sewing machine on your own)

Ages 16+ 



What You’ll Learn:

  • How to cut and sew plush toys using vintage knit fabrics

  • Stuffing and finishing techniques for soft toys

  • Tips for working with Fortrel and other durable synthetics

  • Simple embellishment and face-stitching details


What We Provide:

  • Vintage Fortrel fabric selection

  • Teddy bear pattern (3 different sizes to choose from that you will trace that you can later take home)*
  • Stuffing (recirculated fabric stuffing and some poly fill bits) *

  • All sewing tools and supplies

  • Buttons for embellishments 
  • Safety eye option (for $5 with 20% discount) 

     


What to Bring:

  • Your sewing machine (optional—machines available for use, however bring your own is helpful for your learning)

  • Basic sewing kit (scissors, pins, thread snips, etc.)

  • Own stuffing if you prefer something different from our offering * 
  • Own simple bear pattern if you wish (please check with us prior to class to be sure it is appropriate for your skill level) *
