Potters Apron Workshop



In this 2 week class, learn to create your own Potters Apron! This style of apron is commonly used by potters due to having the open centre but is also the perfect apron style for many more jobs and hobbies! All the greatness and mess protection of a regular apron but double the mobility for those who make, create, repair or garden!  

This class is perfect for sewists who are familiar with their sewing machines and wish to keep building their skills by trying a trickier project while still having their makes be useful at the same time.

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner - Intermediate

Skill Requirements:

  • Advanced Beginner classes plus several completed items.
  • Experience successfully completing several sewing projects. This class will not cover basic sewing machine operations such as threading a needle, switching needles, how to adjust stitch length, locking stitches, reverse stitching, pivoting corners, winding bobbins etc. Students should be capable of performing these procedures without assistance.
  • For apparel making classes: you must have familiarity with using a sewing pattern, measuring oneself and picking a size.

For students age 16+


Learning Outcomes

  • Learn how to hem curves properly 
  • Make ties with tips and ticks
  • Constructing a unique apron style
  • Customize your pockets with contrasting fabric
  • Add patches if you wish to make your apron a ‘you’ original!
  • Pattern: Split Splat Apron Pattern by Spokes and Stitches

- Recirculated fabric from our selection 

** You will want to come well before the class to see what we have to be sure what we have is what you want. We have a selection of fabrics appropriate for this class. Below is the type of fabric that you will want to use: 

  • Canvas
  • Denim
  • Broadcloth 
  • Other non stretch mid-heavy weight fabric are suitable.

- A small amount of interfacing for the bib

- Fabric, if you are NOT using any of our recirculated fabric

- Thread

- Sewing Machine 

- Pins

- Clips

- Marking pen 

- Measuring tape
