Perfect Placement Applique
Come join us for to learn Perfect Placement Applique. This is a needle turn method that is an easier technique than the usual paper template technique. This is a fun and relaxing hand-sewing technique using fabric, needle and thread, a toothpick and access to light source.
Skill Level: Beginner - Intermediate appliquer
Skill requirements:
No previous experience necessary. However, some hand-sewing skills are helpful.
Must be aged 16+
**A simple design will be provided to start off with. Please keep in mind, this class is intended to get you started into this unique and fun technique.
We provide: A kit with the following will be provided for you:
- Needle x1
- Applique pins
- Thimble x1
- Tooth picks (specific shape for this technique)
- Carbon tracing sheet x1
- Techniques info sheet
You must bring:
- A 16"x16" square of solid or simple print pale-coloured fabric - 100% cotton (recirculated fabrics available - included)
- Spools of thread in various colours - 100% silk or cotton (recirculated cotton threads available - included)
- Spool of red thread - 100% cotton (recirculated cotton threads available - included)
- Small embroidery scissors (or other small sharp scissors)
- Scraps of fabric in various colours - 100% cotton (recirculated fabrics available - included)
- Portable sewing lamp (optional)
- Fray check
- Water soluble glue
- Recirculated cotton thread
- Recirculated scrap fabrics in various colours
- Light weight cardboard

| Instructor Bio: | Nancy Lee has been quilting for 15 years and has experience in most techniques; however she primarily does applique as she finds it relaxing. Nancy has taught Perfect Placement Applique techniques to her Guild, her Applique Society, the Victoria Quilters' Guild satellite applique group and also privately. Nancy worked in health care for over 40 years, both as a nurse and in management, and studied adult education as part of her training. |
