Weekend Stitches (Beginner, Ages 8-12)
Weekend Stitches is 6 week class for total beginners ages 8-12. Review will be involved for each week in order for your child to solidify what they have learned. Your child will get to choose what fun project that they would like to make from a collection of ideas and samples.
Skill level:
No previous experience or machine required.
What your child will learn each week:
Week 1:
- Introduction / review of the sewing machine
- Sewing machine and cutting safety
- Choosing fabrics
- Create a patchwork pillow or tote bag
Week 2:
- Introduction to threading and making bobbins
- Review of the sewing machine
- Design and sew a drawstring bag or shcrunchie
Week 3:
- Review and practice
- Introduction to working with zippers
- Design and create a zippered pouch
Week 4:
- Share one new thing you learn/review
- Time for finishing any incomplete projects
Week 5-6:
- Choose your own project - Taking everything you had learned over the last few weeks and apply them a project of your choice. This an opportunity for to make a bigger project. We have patterns, books and samples to inspire your kiddo!
We will provide:
- Equipment: sewing machines and all tools

We keep a range of project samples, books and sewing patterns on hand so that there is flexibility, allowing kids to be self directed in their sewing!
- ALL Materials are provided for this class.
- Sewing machine (optional): we highly encourage your child to bring their own sewing machine, if they have one. Don't forget to pack the manual, foot pedal & power cord!
- We encourage you to send snacks and refreshments as it’s much easier to be creative when you got fuel for your brain!
