60 Degree Triangles

Join our hands-on sewing class to learn how to make a fun quilt using a 60-degree triangle ruler! In this advanced-beginner-friendly session, you'll master the technique of cutting precise triangles, which can be arranged into beautiful geometric patterns for your quilt top. Our experienced instructor will guide you through each step: cutting, piecing, and assembly, showing you how to join your pieces so they line up correctly. This class is perfect for those looking to expand their quilting knowledge and creativity beyond standard angles!

Things you will need to bring for class:
  • Sewing machine in good working order
  • 1/4" piecing foot
  • 60 degree triangle ruler
  • 6x24" rectangle ruler (or similar size)
  • Rotary cutter
  • Small cutting mat, if you have one, but there will be some available
  • Small iron and mat, if you have one, but there will be some available
  • Ironing spray highly recommended, please no scented products.
  • 1/4" piecing foot
  • An array of different fabrics for your chosen project size. (Recommend at least 8 for a scrappy-looking quilt where the same fabric never touches, or you could do just two for a checkerboard-like look)
    • Two fat quarters will make a "checkerboard" placemat:
    • 0.5m of eight different fabrics will make a lap size

Fabrics included with class:
  • Fabric from our shop, for use in this class, is included in the price of the class. Please pick out your fabric ahead of time. Staff can help you make selections. Some fabric is excluded from this deal, ask staff for details.
  • Discounts are available at select other local fabric stores. Inquire within after registering for class.

Please note:
    • This class does not include basic quilting instruction. You should have an understanding of:
      • Piecing using a quarter inch seam allowance
      • The importance of accuracy and squaring up
      • Use of rotary cutter to cut squares and rectangles
    • We will not finish a whole quilt top in this one session. If you would like a finished top during the session ready for quilting, I recommend doing a placemat to get the technique down. Or you can start a quilt top in class and finish it on your own.
