Seminole Quilting



This quilting technique features colorful, geometric patterns and is inspired by the Seminole people. In this hands-on class, we'll go through fabric selection, cutting, piecing, and precise stitching to create these stunning and unique designs. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced quilter, our expert instructor will guide you through creating your own beautiful Seminole-inspired quilt. Unleash your creativity and bring a piece of Seminole heritage into your home. 

 

Skill requirements: 

Must be comfortable piecing with an accurate 1/4" seam, and using a rotary cutter and ruler to cut fabric.

Materials Needed:  

  • Fabric: 
    • Any amount of at least 10 different fabrics (quilting cotton) as long as they are full width of fabric (~40")
      • The more variety the more fun you can have with colour arrangement - Bring lots!
  • Thread: 
    • Neutral colour thread for piecing (usually grey for cool colours, beige for warm colours) 
  • Equipment: 
    • Sewing machine** in good working order with a fresh needle
    • Rotary cutter, mat and ruler
    • ¼” piecing foot
  • Notions: 
    • Wonder clips or pins 
    • Other basic sewing notions such as seam ripper
