Seminole Quilting
This quilting technique features colorful, geometric patterns and is inspired by the Seminole people. In this hands-on class, we'll go through fabric selection, cutting, piecing, and precise stitching to create these stunning and unique designs. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced quilter, our expert instructor will guide you through creating your own beautiful Seminole-inspired quilt. Skill requirements:
Must be comfortable piecing with an accurate 1/4" seam, and using a rotary cutter and ruler to cut fabric.
Materials Needed:
- Fabric:
- Any amount of at least 10 different fabrics (quilting cotton) as long as they are full width of fabric (~40")
- The more variety the more fun you can have with colour arrangement - Bring lots!
- Thread:
- Neutral colour thread for piecing (usually grey for cool colours, beige for warm colours)
- Equipment:
- Sewing machine** in good working order with a fresh needle
- Rotary cutter, mat and ruler
- ¼” piecing foot
- Notions:
- Wonder clips or pins )
- Other basic sewing notions such as seam ripper
