Sew Along Burlesque Costuming
Have a creative vision but you’re not quite sure how to realize it? Fascinated and awe-inspired by the stage magic of burlesque and always wondered, HOW DID THEY DO THAT? In this sew along costuming course, you’ll learn about fabrics that move well and look good under stage lighting, different options for quick release garments, AND ways to make your beautiful costumes fluctuate with our ever-changing bodies. Bring a project that you’ve either started but don’t know how to finish, or a concept that you need help realizing. Topics will be determined by the projects brought to the first class.
Let’s create magic together ♥
Supply list for class:
-
Sewing machine in good working order with fresh needle (If you are unable to bring a machine, one can be provided for you, but it is best to learn on your own machine, if possible)
-
We can talk about which needles to use for which fabrics etc. I have a quick guide handout with needle and thread info for students
-
Fabric and materials for your project
-
Coordinating thread to your accent fabric - The Green Thimble has a decent stash of recirculated thread if you don’t have the exact colour you need
-
Snap tape, separating zipper, or clip release - we will talk about costume release options
-
