After this class is over you will walk away with your own fully lined 10 by 11 inch crossbody bag, large enough for your Tablet/e-reader, wallet and a few other prized possessions!

* Two 1 inch (2.5 cm) swivel hooks
* One 1 inch (2.5 cm) slider
* Two 1 inch (2.5 cm) D-Rings
* Two 1 inch (2.5cm) Rectangle rings
* One 3/4 inch (18 mm) magnetic snap for the front magnetic snap pocket
* Tessa Bag pattern by Lanyos Handmade (Linda, your instructor)
* 1 yard or 1 metre (lightweight denim, upholstery fabric, quilting cotton) for the Outer Layers
* 1 yard or 1 metre (quilting cotton) for the Lining Layers
We are supplying hardware in Emmaline gunmetal finish. If you would like to bring your own hardware of the same size in a different colour, you will receive a $10 refund.

Ready to move past bulky, basic cloth tote bags? Done being avoiding zippers? Learn how to perfect:
Zipper tab corners;
Sewing in zippers;
Two strap styles;
Magnetic Snap Pockets;
Zipper Pockets with Zipper Overlays;
Slip Pockets;
Card Slot Pockets;
and Turning a Bag.

Requirements:
Basic sewing experience required.
Materials for students to bring:
- Your machine, in good working condition.
A fresh sewing needle, size 16 for upholstery fabric. We recommend the Schmetz Jeans/Denim needle, available for purchase in store.
* LIGHTWEIGHT FUSIBLE WOVEN INTERFACING (Pellon Shape-Flex/SF101 available for purchase by the metre in store) for Lining Layers, double if using quilting cotton for Outer Layers - 1 yard or 1 metre.
* OPTIONAL: FUSIBLE FLEECE or FOAM for Front and Back only - 1/4 yard or 0.25 metre (like PELLON FLEX-FOAM or BY ANNIES SOFT & STABLE)
TIP: If using upholstery fabric and your layers are too thick with the Fleece or Foam, this bag might be difficult to turn and therefore Fleece or Foam are not recommended.
* One length of #5 zipper tape about 12 inches (30 cm) long, and a zipper pull, for the bag Top Closure
* One length of #5 zipper tape about 9 inches (23 cm) long, and a zipper pull, for the inner zipper pocket

Instructor Bio:
Linda Maki of Lanyos Handmade loves spending time with her family, and jogging, but her next love is SEWING!
Linda's Aunt was a trained seamstress in Hungary and her Mother always had a sewing machine on the dining room table. They taught her how to sew at a young age. Linda remembers sewing Barbie clothes in elementary school and outfits in middle school. Her proudest moment was designing and sewing her own wedding dress.
Linda started her sewing blog, Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!, to share her sewing projects with her readers. She is the creator and organizer of the #designindecember Sewing Challenge. Linda then decided there would be no more store bought in her wardrobe and has sewn all her own clothes since.
Her next step was creating "Lanyos Handmade", her custom bag making and pattern design business. On the Lanyos Handmade YouTube channel, Linda loves sharing her sewing patterns, sewing tips, tutorials, and videos to help you with your sewing journey!
Linda uses her domestic sewing machines, a Janome MC8200QCP SE and a Janome HD3000, and her vintage sewing machines, a Singer 500 Rocketeer and a Singer 421G, to draft her bag patterns and sew up various bags, totes, wallets, etc., with an emphasis on using vegan, sustainable, up-cycled and repurposed materials.
Each year Lanyos Handmade donates 10% of pattern sale proceeds to the ALS Society of British Columbia. Thank you for your support!
