Quilt Binding

Level up your binding game! Learn multiple binding techniques plus how to match up your beginning and end so that you can't tell which seam you started with!

You will learn:
  • Match the ends perfectly (use this for every finishing technique)
  • Going around corners
  • As many finishes as we can get through:
    • Hand-stitched binding
    • Machine binding to front
    • Flange binding
    • Machine binding to back
    • Binding with decorative stitches
    • Big stitch binding

Things you need for this class:
  • Machine in good working order with fresh needle
  • 1/4" piecing foot
  • Open toe applique foot
  • Ruler with 45 degree angle (2.5" wide is usually a good one for binding)
  • Rotary cutter
  • Small mat, if you have one (there are some available)
  • Small pressing mat and mini iron, if you have one (there will be irons, but having one at your station reduces the need to be up and down constantly)
    • OR seam roller (takes up a lot less space than an iron and ironing mat)
  • Hand sewing needle for machine-weight thread
  • Hand sewing needle for embroidery-weight thread
  • Thread in a few colours
  • Wonder clips, if you have them
    • OR pins, or snap hair clips, if you don't have wonder clips
  • If you are able to provide some batting scraps, it would be welcome! We have plenty of fabric to play with, though.
